Hirabhai Jotva

Introduction

Hirabhai Jotva (born 1 June 1968) is a politician, farmer and an entrepreneur, who is currently serving as Vice President of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC). He is also the founder and president of Shree Vrundavan Kelavani Mandal (NGO) and Shri Vivekanand Kelavani Mandal (NGO) which runs various educational institutions educating around 5000 students each year.

Hirabhai was previously leader of opposition of Junagadh & Gir Somnath District Panchayat (2010-2015). He has also served as Director of Junagadh District Cooperative Bank (2003-2006). Hirabhai is member of Indian National Congress (INC) since birth and has worked in different positions over past three decades of his political career. He served as president of Veraval Youth Congress (1995-2000), Vice President of Junagadh District Congress Committee (2000-2005), President of Baxipanch Department Junagdh DCC (2005-2010) and Executive member of Gujarat Pradess Congress Committee (2015-2018).

Social Work

Hirabhai was elected as Sarpanch of Supasi village at an early age of 23 years and has served in that role from 1991-2004. As a Sarpanch he founded Junagadh District Sarpanch Union and empowered them by imparting knowledge of Panchayati Raj and self-rule. His work as president of Sarpanch Union lead to familiarity with all the Sarpanchs of Junagadh Loksabha constituency and has created a network of grass root supporters all around Junagadh and Gir Somnath district.

Hirabhai as a youth leader in year 2001 has led a successful agitation against Kesubhai Patel the then Chief Minister of Gujarat State demanding streamlining the creation of more watersheds & checkdams in Saurashtra Region. He with his supporters locked down the CM office situated in home constituency of CM in Visavadar.

Hirabhai also led agitation in year 2015 against Jetpur Somnath Tollway Pvt. Ltd. Company for the cause of local people. He lobbyed for providing service road for people residing in 20km radius of Dari Toll booth. And for providing consessions to people on philgrimage of Lord Dwarkadhish and Lord Somnath temples.

Hirabhai is also active in cooperative sector and has served as Director of Junagadh District Cooperative (JDCC) Bank and represented farmers rights in Maahi Milk Co. at various events.
